The nexus betweeen PR and organic SEO seems to be something that PR people are seeing before SEO people see it, I think. The truth is, the overlap is growing every day. As the search engines have become more sophisticated at weeding out things like paid links, reciprocal links, forum spam, and other standbys of "traditional" SEO, the only avenue left for seeking good links is via good old PR! And the fact is, as the article notes, the search engines value such PR style links above most others, because they are editorially-vetted and generally accurate and trustworthy. I think the day may not be far off when SEO comes to mean only "on-site" optimization, and the old "link-building" aspect of SEO becomes what it really ought to be, which is "online PR."

Great article, and absolutely on point. Our clients are increasingly requesting more integrated approach between PR/SEO. Would love to see you also recommend some of the best online press release portals as it relates to SEO as well. Get your audience working for you!

Thanks, great for the detailed advice.

Just one more idea – something that would be handy on this site – everypage of your website or blog should have an easy to see “share” option so people can add it to Digg, delicious, facebook, etc – which will in turn drive more traffic.
